People don’t need to worry about security.

Even though we just spent the better part of 5 years getting whipped up into an orgasmic paranoid frenzy, we don’t need to worry about outsourcing our security.

I find this hard to believe.
Why is this deal being fast-tracked?
Why is W threatening to use the first veto of his tenure to defeat any measure meant to scrutinise this deal?

this deal isn’t being fast tracked. it has been in the works for ages. i hope u don’t think the UAE is a threat to security. we house more navy ships in their ports, than in any other area of that region. UAE was also the fist to sign a secure ships treaty. in terms of securing our ports, this deal is nothing. only 5% of all containers entering this country are ever inspected. if anything, the UAE would enforce stricter security measures.
also, let it be known that for those of you who are afraid of fundamentalist muslims, UAE is a more liberal country than we are – prostitution is legal there. hopefully they can inspire us in this area,
the only problem i have with this deal, is that it is a country, not a private company involved. if it was just some random foreign company – who cares, but a state owned company is a different story.
